Kamakura is know as the first Samurai Shogunate Government established city in Japan. It will take around 1 hour by train from the city of Tokyo (Shinjuku St.) and enjoy the very old city atmosphere. Even if you don’t have a time to visit Kyoto or Nara, the ancient capital of Japan, you can have a special experience of the Great Buddha and the area with 700 years of history.
Train to Kamakura/ Enjoy “Green Car”
Shonan Shinjuku Line from Shinjuku St.
Take Shonan Shinjuku line to Kamakura. Recommend you to buy “Green Car” ticket by additional payment around 1,000 yen. Though this is a non-reserved sheet, you can tap the sealing red light by your Mobile Suica Card (*1) and take the seat when the light change to green. Don’t forget to buy a lunch box before your getting on the train. You can enjoy eating the lunch in the train on your way to Kamakura. The green car usually has 2nd floor. The upper floor sheets are recommended since you can get a higher nice view.
(*1) If you have physical Suica card or IC card, you need pre-purchase at the bending machine at the platform to get a discount ticket. The price differs prebooked or purchased in the train.

Kotoku-in Temple
The statue is known as Kamakura Daibutsu or the Great Buddha.
This 2nd largest Great Buddha Statue in Japan is superb to see at the open air.

Hase-dera Temple
This Local train is very loved by locals. You can go to Kotokuin Temple (The Great Buddha), Hase-dera Temple, or Enoshima island.
